What is an editable QR code?

An editable QR code is a dynamic QR code. Instead of holding your final web address, it holds a short link that redirects to your page. Because the redirect is stored online, you can change where it points at any time and the code you already printed keeps working. Lifetime QR Codes charges $50 once per code, with no monthly fee for the code.

How to change a QR code after printing

  1. 1

    Create a dynamic code

Pick the type (website link, PDF, menu and so on) and enter your destination. The code you download holds a short link, not the final address.

  2. 2

    Print it

Put it on flyers, packaging, signs or business cards. Vector and PNG files are included.

  3. 3

    Edit the destination later

Open Dynamic QR Codes in your dashboard, click Edit on the code, update the destination and finish. Scans now open the new page.

Do editable QR codes need a subscription?

Many providers charge monthly or yearly to keep an editable code working. Here you pay $50 once per code and there is no monthly fee for the code. The only recurring charge is optional: a custom domain costs $10 a month or $100 a year.

We don't expect to shut down, but we plan for it. If we ever did, you would get 120 days' notice, your redirects would stay online for 10 more years, and you could export your data. Read the continuity plan.

Editable QR code FAQs

Can I edit a QR code after printing it?

Yes, if it is a dynamic (editable) code. The printed pattern holds a short link that redirects to your page, so you change the destination in your dashboard and every printed copy follows. A static code has the address built into its pattern, so changing it means printing a new code.

How many times can I change the link?

As many times as you like. Unlimited destination URL changes are included with every code.

Does the printed code change when I edit it?

No. The code on your flyer, sign or card stays exactly as printed. Only the page it opens changes.

Is there a free editable QR code generator?

Static QR codes are free but cannot be edited. Editable codes need a redirect service to keep running, so most providers charge for them. Ours is $50 once per code, and you can try it first with a 1-day free trial.

Can I edit a QR code that another provider made?

Not with us. A dynamic code holds its own provider's short link, so only that provider can change where it points. Create a new code here and use it on your next print run.
